In today’s digital age, whether it is an industry, organisation or home, its productivity and efficiency go beyond relying on competent, hardworking employees and high-functioning machineries like computers, printers, and phones. Running a business or industry sleekly necessitates a robust, secure, and seamless network infrastructure.

Without a dependable infrastructure in place, business growth will suffer, impacting employees, and customers. This may include security issues that can hinder employee productivity, lead to cost escalation or damage the reputation of your brand. It is crucial to understand what network connectivity and infrastructure really mean and why it is indispensable for your business. Network infrastructure links devices or machines together, via wired or wireless means or by using an access point such as a router. However, it is also the hardware and software that facilitate network connectivity, communication, operations and management of a network. It builds the communication path and services between users, processes, applications, and external networks/the internet.

The Internet

Network Connectivity at its most basic level can be explained using the internet as an example. Devices connected to the internet are connected to each other through network links. These links can either be in the form of physical cables or wireless connections. Physical cables come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from small cables used for linking two computers to large undersea cables connecting continents. Wireless connections, though not visible, operate at similar scales, from Wi-Fi networks in homes to satellites in space.

Digital Commerce or E-Commerce

Commerce and business are the cornerstone of human engagement or interaction. Critical elements driving businesses such as contracts, agreements, and barters are devised through communication. The transformation of commerce from offline to online has implications for human interaction and communication. In the contemporary economy, commerce involves a long supply chain and multiple agents that impact the production and transport of goods. Each step in this selling process requires human beings interacting with one another, particularly at the point of sale.

Digital Communications/Reach

In the digital world, email and instant messaging have completely replaced the traditional methods as the primary means of written communication, with billions of digital messages sent from one person to another each day.

Enhanced connectivity leads to a larger reach. People can interact across distances in a matter of seconds through social media. A business in North America can ship a product to India with just a few clicks. Businesses have evolved completely to accommodate this enhanced connectivity and reach.

Reliability

For many individuals, it is close to impossible to envision life without instant connectivity and wealth of information provided by the internet which can be accessed through so many devices. Devices have thus become an essential, perhaps indispensable cog of human life. This is pervasive across commercial, industrial, and personal settings.

On the industrial end, distribution management systems, smart panels, and power management are common examples of how network connectivity has boosted operations in the realm of manufacturing. Eminent brands like #SchneiderElectric have looked to expand network connectivity in the form of automation and smart technology.
